In this class at Alpaca Meadows you will learn to spin alpaca roving into yarn with a drop spindle. You will gain the skills to spin a singles yarn, learn spinning related terms, and leave with instructions on how to ply your singles yarn. By the time you finish this class, you will be well on your way to spinning your own hand spun yarn!

Drop spinning involves beginning with a handful of fiber in one hand, and with the other hand gently pulling fibers away from the mass, using the drop spindle to create twist which gives the fiber strength as it gets spun into yarn. This is the essence of spinning—drawing out the fibers and adding twist until you have created a stable yarn.
