In this class, you'll learn how to crochet these timeless squares, and join them into a headband. Instructions will be given to make your headband into a hat, if desired.
Skills learned in this class will be beneficial as you move on to create a variety of projects like blankets, scarves, bags, and even stylish garments like skirts, tops, and jackets.
You'll be guided through each round of the granny square with clear, step-by-step instructions. Along the way, you'll pick up tips on color changes, managing your stitches, and staying on track as you work. Whether you're eager to use up leftover yarn or embark on a new creative journey, this class will open the door to endless possibilities with one of the most beloved crochet designs. Basic crochet skills such as slip knot, chain, single crochet, and double crochet, are required to attend this class. If you are new to crochet or think you might need a refresher, join us for the next session of one of our beginner classes, the Scarf Crochet Class or the Hat Crochet Class.
This class is designed for participants ages 16 and older. Youth ages 12–15 are welcome to attend when registered with an adult companion who is also enrolled in the class.
One skein of Classic Alpaca Yarn in three different colors are included in the class fee. Click here to see the colors and then list them in the note when checking out. See last picture for different color combo ideas. There will be enough yarn to make a hat and headband if desired. Pattern also included.
A Size G-6 (4.0mm) Crochet Hook and a yarn needle are needed, or they may be purchased along with the class. A Granny Square Blocking Board is not necessary, but available if you choose.
We will begin at 1pm and end about 3pm.
