Crochet is one of the simplest yet most versatile fiber arts! Whether you're picking up a hook for the first time or returning for a refresher after years away, this Hat Crochet Class is for you.

You'll learn how to create a fun hat and, if desired, a pair of fingerless mitts. Both projects are made in two flat pieces and then sewn together. You'll learn essential skills including how to hold a crochet hook and yarn for proper tension, make a slip knot, chain stitch, and work half-double crochet stitches. We'll also cover how to read a crochet pattern and understand a yarn label.

This class meets on two different days, giving you time in between to practice and build confidence. Join us and start your crochet journey today!

Included in Fee

One skein of Espiral yarn, 100% alpaca, is needed to make the hat and is included in the fee for this class. Yarn colors are pictured or click the link to see larger swatches, and then select a color when checking out.

Option

If you want to make the fingerless mitts, a second skein will be needed. Be sure to select this option when checking out.

Need to Bring (or purchase with class)

You will need to bring a Size H – 5.0 mm hook to class. Or you may opt to purchase a hook here and have it ready for you when you come to class, if you wish.

Nice to Have

The Crochet Pocket Guide is a very handy reference guide. It's not necessary for this class, but there is an option to add it if desired. It's a laminated, pocket-size encyclopedia with the most popular stitches pictured and described, from single crochet, half double, double, and treble crochet to clusters, popcorns, shells, cables, post stitches, and much more!

Class Time

Class will begin at 1pm and finish about 3pm on two separate days.

Age Guidelines

This class is designed for participants ages 16 and older. Youth ages 12–15 are welcome to attend when registered with an adult companion who is also enrolled in the class.
