This listing is for two ounces of charcoal silver Mohair from one of our own angora goats named Lola. The locks of fiber average 5 inches in length. This mohair is soft, has high luster and a beautiful sheen to it, separates into locks easily, and combs out beautifully. The fiber has been washed, though there may still be some tiny bits of vegetable matter in it that should fall out as you work with it.
The Angora goat (Turkish: Ankara keçisi) is a breed of domesticated goat that is named after Ankara, Turkey, historically known as Angora. Angora goats produce the lustrous fiber known as mohair. Mohair is known as the "diamond fiber" due to its exceptional durability and brilliant luster. Angora goats may be the most efficient fiber producers on Earth. These makers of Mohair do not produce Angora hair. Only rabbits can produce Angora hair.
The locks of Mohair would also be fun to tailspin or to use for core spinning. They would add interesting design and texture to felting and craft projects, weaving, knitting or crochet. Angora also makes gorgeous doll hair. Mohair takes dye beautifully resulting in very vibrant colors.
