This listing is for two ounces of hand-dyed angora goat fiber, called Mohair. The locks of fiber vary in length up to 5". This fiber was hand-dyed using a low-immersion technique with Gaywool Dyes, and is called "Night Sky".

These beautiful locks are from all three of our own Angora goats, Mike, Ike, and Lola. This fiber is very soft, has a beautiful sheen to it, separates into locks easily, and combs out beautifully. The fiber has been washed multiple times, and hand picked to remove the majority of vegetable matter. Tiny bits of vegetable matter trapped within the locks is inevitable.

Locks can be carded and spun, added to art batts, tail or core spun for art yarn. This fiber would add interesting design and texture to felting and craft projects, as well as worked into weaving, knitting, and crochet projects. If long enough, this mohair would make some gorgeous doll hair, or great filler in baskets for photo props!

The Angora goat (Turkish: Ankara keçisi) is a breed of domesticated goat that is named after Ankara, Turkey, historically known as Angora. Angora goats produce the lustrous fiber known as mohair. Mohair is known as the "Diamond fiber" due to its exceptional durability and brilliant luster. Angora goats may be the most efficient fiber producers on Earth. These makers of mohair do not produce Angora hair. Only rabbits can produce Angora hair.
