This medium brown Suri fiber comes from Mabelle, a 16-year-old alpaca at Alpaca Meadows. Though her fiber isn’t as soft as it was in her younger years, it still offers strength, and plenty of creative potential. At this age, her fleece has transitioned to a medium-grade fineness—ideal for a variety of craft and fiber art applications.

The locks average about 4" in length and are easy to separate. This is her prime or blanket fiber, carefully skirted and pre-washed to remove the bulk of dust and debris. While you may still find the occasional bit of hay or straw, it’s minimal and easily removed as you work.

Each listing is for 2 ounces of raw Suri alpaca fiber—ready to be carded, blended, or spun right from the lock for unique art yarn. It would work well for embellishing felting projects, woven items, and mixed-media projects. The longer locks make especially striking, natural-looking hair for handmade dolls and figurines.

Suri blends beautifully with silk, merino, cormo, rambouillet, kid mohair, seacell, tencel, and more—just 10% can add shine and softness to a fiber blend.
