Smooth and lustrous, this hand dyed Suri alpaca fiber is ideal for hand spinning, blending, weaving, and select felting applications where sheen and drape are desired. The locks may be gently prepared for a smooth yarn or spun directly for textured yarn.
Hand dyed using Gaywool dyes in a shade called Watermelon, the locks measure approximately 6 inches in length and are blanket fiber with a medium handle.
Suri alpaca grows in long, distinct locks that hang parallel to the body, giving it exceptional shine and graceful drape. When spun, Suri produces a silky yarn known for its natural sheen and durability.
Suri blends beautifully with silk, tencel, seacell, merino, cormo, kid mohair, and rambouillet. Even a small percentage can enhance luster and strength in a blend. It is also well suited for needle felting, wet felting, weaving, embellishment, and doll hair, as the long locks pull easily from the tip.
