This is Suri Alpaca Fiber, grown by a very sweet alpaca named Gemma. Gemma not only has beautiful mottled coloring throughout her fleece, she has a one-of-a-kind personality and loves attention! Her fleece is beautifully fine, silky, and naturally lustrous. The fiber offers exceptional softness with a smooth handle and lovely drape — especially well-suited for lightweight yarn and next-to-skin projects.
The staple length is approximately 5 inches.
Carefully skirted and prewashed, this fiber is ready to card, spin, or blend. Suri alpaca is known for producing silky yarn with natural sheen and graceful drape. Even a small percentage added to a blend enhances luster and durability.
Suri locks may also be spun directly for textured yarns with wonderful movement.
