Grown by the lovely Suri alpacas at our farm in Mansfield, Ohio, the black and white fibers are natural colors, while other fibers are hand-dyed using Gaywool dyes in vibrant Daisy and Indigo shades. The medium-fineness fiber has versatile uses: blend it with silk, seacell, Tencel, Cormo, Merino, kid mohair, or Rambouillet—usually, 10% is enough to add delightful texture.

Suri fiber is ideal for needle and wet felting projects, weaving, and even knitting or crocheting. Its longer locks make stunning doll hair; simply locate the lock tips and pull gently for defined strands. WHAT ARE SURI ALPACAS?

Suri alpacas are distinguished in the camelid family by their unique fiber characters. The fiber grows parallel to the body while hanging in long, separate, distinctive locks. Its artistic style enhances the graceful appearance of the animal compared to the soft, wooly look of huacaya alpacas. Suri alpacas are very rare and comprise only 10% of the alpaca population in the US.

Suri fiber locks, made up of high-luster fibers, drape down the sides of the body in a twisted or flat form of various size. Suri fiber has a slick hand and softness with an exquisite luster.
